Who is the class for?
Tjitske provides a gentle form of yoga in small groups with an eye for individual needs. Her classes are suitable for everyone, whether you’re in ill health –or have been -, or just looking for a nice yoga class. Everyone is welcome.
Class is in Dutch, English is no problem.
What can you expect?
We start every class in silence, followed by surya namaskar/sun sulation (a series of postures that warms, awakens and strengthens the entire body while drawing the attention inwards), followed by several asanas (yoga postures) and end our class with a deep relaxation and mantra. In this yoga class we hold the postures a little bit longer (as in yin yoga), build them up step by step and there is plenty of space for silence. Small groups (max. 8) with an eye for individual needs: my classes are suitable for everyone, whether you’re in ill health –or have been -, or just looking for a nice yoga class. Everyone is welcome.
At the age of 36 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Yoga really helped me cope with my disease. With relaxing. With reconnecting and feeling my body. To deal with pain and tiredness. To live life. As it is. To realise that I’m so much more than cancer. Than my thoughts and all accompanying anxieties. That there is a space inside me where I’m not sick. Cannot be sick, not a patient and definitely not a victim. As my son says: the space where you can leave all behind.
Longing for deepening my yoga practice (and searching for silence and maybe even a lighter life) I started a three year transformative yoga training (based on a.o. Raja yoga –yoga of consciousness and Hatha yoga – the more known physical form of yoga) with Ganga Hoogendoorn at Sai Mithra Amsterdam. After a (yoga-meditation-) journey through India I discovered that teaching in itself is such a beautiful way of learning ánd quite unexpectedly that I really enjoyed teaching. To be able to communicate and share what I’ve been given to learn. I also took a massage course with Ganga and went to a silent retreat with Mooji.

Wear comfortable clothing in which you can move freely and make sure you bring a warm vest/sweater and socks. Yoga mat, pillow, and blanket (as well as a warm cup of tea) will be provided, but feel free to bring your own (your own yoga mat is always nice).
Classes will be in Dutch. English: no problem.
-Our yoga studio is at the top floor, unfortunately there is no elevator.
-Yoga can be complementary to your treatment but can never replace medical care.
